My Story--Golden Dream

My name is A-Qiang, and I'm a gold panner in the mountains of Yunnan. Every morning, I squat by the Lancang River, washing mud with a bamboo sieve. The slurry glimmers with golden specks in the sunlight - the only hope for my family's survival.

"The price dropped again," I sighed. The mud buyers kept lowering their offers. One kilogram of gold-bearing mud could barely buy two days' worth of food. Sweat dripped from my forehead into the mud, creating tiny ripples.

That day, I was panning for mineral clay and heard the noise of tourists playing in the distance. Looking up, I saw a group of blond, blue-eyed young people taking photos with their mobile phones. Suddenly, an idea hit me: the minerals here belong to the state and private transactions are not allowed. Why not sell DIY Gold Mine Soil online to foreign countries?

The idea took root in my mind. I put down the sieve and hurried to the town's internet cafe. The bespectacled young owner shook his head with a smile when hearing my plan.

"You can't even use a computer, and you want to build a website?" he said, adjusting his glasses.

I ignored his doubts. After panning for gold every day, I would go to the Internet cafe and type letters one by one on the keyboard with my unfamiliar fingers. Three months later, my website was built. The homepage featured photos of us gold miners and a brief introduction to the gold.

The first order came from Canada. I packed the mud with shaking hands, afraid of missing a grain of gold. Gradually, more orders came. The life of our whole village improved.

Now, whenever I open my computer and see orders from all over the world, I will think of that afternoon of panning for gold by the river. Sometimes, the opportunity to change your destiny is like gold sand hidden in the mud, waiting for us to discover.
